The first stage of our traveling exhibition took place at the Thames Art Center, situated in the vibrant art districts of Bushwick and Williamsburg, Brooklyn. This location marked our debut in New York’s competitive and dynamic art circuit, a monumental step in showcasing Latin American artists on an international platform. For us, this was more than an exhibition; it was a bold entrance into a global dialogue about the power and relevance of Latin American art.
The opening event was electric, featuring a stunning performance showcase by Latin American artists. These performances explored themes of identity, memory, and resistance, transforming the gallery into a space of emotional resonance and intellectual engagement. The exhibition itself presented a wide array of mediums—printmaking, painting, photography, drawing, and mixed media—all carefully curated to highlight the diversity and depth of artistic expressions from the region.
Bushwick, known for its thriving urban art scene and significant Latino community, provided the perfect starting point. It was a space where the local audience could deeply connect with the themes of the works, while international visitors were introduced to the richness and complexity of Latin American artistic narratives. For many attendees, this was a completely new experience, and the political and cultural intensity of the pieces sparked curiosity, admiration, and meaningful dialogue.
This first step in Bushwick was a statement—an affirmation of our commitment to promoting Latin American artists on different levels, from amplifying their voices to facilitating their entrance into the global art market. The exhibition was not only warmly received but also succeeded in generating sales, fostering recognition, and laying the foundation for future collaborations.
The Thames Art Center became the gateway for our project, helping us establish credibility and build momentum as we continued to move through New York City. It was a moment of immense pride and significance, as we watched the first chapter of this ambitious project come to life, setting the tone for the subsequent stages of our journey.
